For those of you who grew up watching Sci-Fi movies in the 90s, this info I came across today reminded me of the movie “Total Recall”. What do you think? Are we ready for “Johnny Cab’s?”
Tesla Expands Robotaxi Service with Arizona Permit:
Tesla has secured a transportation network company (TNC) permit in Arizona, allowing it to operate an Uber-like ride-hailing service in the state.
The permit enables Tesla to charge passengers but requires a safety driver; driverless operations are not yet authorized. Tesla applied for the permit on November 13 and received approval just four days later.
This expansion comes as the robotaxi industry gains momentum. Tesla launched its service in Austin, Texas, earlier this year with safety monitors and operates a human-driven chauffeur service in the San Francisco Bay area. CEO Elon Musk announced plans to expand robotaxi operations to 8-10 metro areas by year-end, targeting nearly half the U.S. population.
Tesla joins competitors like Waymo and Zoox in accelerating autonomous vehicle deployment as the industry rebounds from previous setbacks.
